Edinburgh & Scotland:

EDINBURGH:

One of the world's greatest and most interesting cities!: Best of all, our deal with the Roxburghe Hotel means you are right in the heart of the main city attractions. Just 149 paces (yes, we counted them) from the hotel to fabulous, unique Princes Street - the man street of Scotland's Capital city with parkland, gardens and history on one side and quality shopping on the other.
The 'park' side of Princes Street features stunning Edinburgh castle, The Royal Mile with all its history (www.edinburgh-royalmile.com) and attractions galore. (Fancy the 3D Loch Ness Experience)? Continue along the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament and Palace of Holyroodhouse (the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland and former home of Mary, Queen of Scots).
From the quaint, historic lanes of the Old Town, to the elegance of the Georgian New Town, wherever you look, sights await. There are simply too many to mention here. No surprise that this fantastic city is a World Heritage Site!

SCOTLAND:.

Surely, if any country does not need an introduction it is Scotland. History, classic buildings, incredible scenery, great food, whisky, Loch Ness, Highlands and Islands, Balmoral (Queen's Highland residence), MacBeth, Tartan, Bagpipes, Glencoe, the list is endless!

And - if you have even the tiniest interest in golf - we need say no more!

For us potato-heads, Scotland has many research and development organisations that you may wish to also visit.

GETTING THERE:

BY AIR: There are too many services to Edinburgh airport to mention. From the airport, it is a 15-20 minute journey by taxi at a cost of around £15 ( € 17 / $24). Alternatively, Airlink 100 bus service is extremely efficient and departs from right outside the air terminal. With services at least every 10 minutes during most of the day, there are stops both before and after the Roxburghe Hotel, each just a few minutes walk away. The bus fare is just £3.50 ( € 3.90 / $5.60) and the journey is approximately 25 minutes. (Take a seat on the top deck and enjoy the view as Edinburgh City reveals itself).
For this journey (and others in the City), the Edinburgh Convention Bureau offers you discounts and pre-booking on Lothian Buses: https://kiosk.iristickets.co.uk/k?lothianbuses&ECB&ka=ECB&TRACKER=ECB&promo=ECB

BY ROAD: We do warn all drivers that parking is expensive in the City centre area of Edinburgh. The Roxburghe Hotel has some parking at £19 per day and has a concession with nearby parking facilities to validate for the same rate. Please ask for details when making your hotel accommodation reservations. Edinburgh has the following time differences: Mainland Europe +1 hours. US & Canadian West Coast -8 hours. US East Coast -5 hours.

BY TRAIN: The Roxburghe Hotel is roughly 7 minutes walk from both Edinburgh Waverley and Edinburgh Haymarket stations.
